| These are the eggs that started it all. When I was in Germany last year, my Oma requested the I paint the hardboiled eggs that where
to go in the children's Easter egg baskets. Everyone loved them and didn't want to egg them. So it was request that from now on I only
paint hollowed out eggs. I painted a whole batch for my Aunt before I left but I didn't get a picture of them.
In case it's hard to tell, from top to bottom and right to left, a swallow, alligate, yes that is Pikachu, a bunny, a hen with chicks,
a butterfly and more chicks. They also have little pictures on the other side, which I didn't bother taking a picture of but now I wish I had.

Here are some of my experimentations with eggs... the rest of these are all 2001 and yes, real hollowed out eggs.
| Here I experimented with a sort of paper machee technique using tissue paper. I thought it would be less time consuming than painting
but it turned out to be even more complicated. However, I do like how they turned out. I'll likely do more in the future.

| Here I experimented with something completely new. As I was blowing out the yolk of an egg, it cracked. Normally that means that this egg
would go in the trash but I decided to try to put something in the hollow egg. I did the tissue papering again and stuffed little, Easter chick dolls inside.
If the chicks didn't look so scary, it probably would have come out better.

Now we start the part that I'm famous for, my watercolour painted eggs.
| This egg is a wrap around painting of a swallowtail butterfly on one side and a some simple, yellow flowers on the other side. The
whole setting is in a field. This is one of the few eggs that is completely painted.
| Here is another wrap aroung painting. There's a simple red tulip on one side and the other is a german character named
'Diddl Maus' (Diddle Mouse) holding a green easter egg. These characters are very popular in Germany and I love to
draw them. So, I just had to try and paint one!
| This is more the style I normally do with only on picture on both side and no real background. This is just a little
european red squirrel holding a nut. On the other side is a nice, old tree.
| Another wrap around egg. This is just a bunch of goldfishies swimming around in a pond.
| This is my favourite egg. I really like how delicate this one turned out. It's just a little, brown rabbit admit some spring flowers.
On the other side is a bunch of easter eggs sitting in some grass.
| Here is an almost wrap around egg. It has a pinkish flower on one side and then the rest is covered with hummingbirds in
flight. No, most of thos colours don't exist on hummingbirds. However, I'm the artist so I can do what I want! :)
| This is the only egg that doesn't have a main part to the painting. It's simply little, fluffy chicks
running all over the place.
So where are all these eggs now? Well, I shipped all to my Oma for Easter. That is a story in itself!
All of these eggs are threaded with either light yellow or purple, satin ribbons so they can be hung
on a pussy willow branch arrangement that is customary for Easter in Germany. However, as you can see, most
of my eggs have themes that would be appropriate for any time of year.
