"There is a strong instinct in me...
To draw and describe the things I love...
A sort of instinct, like that for eating and drinking."
- John Ruskin (Pre-Raphealite Artist)

This is my silly art page. It really doesn't have much on it at the moment.. but it will. I'd like to put up many more drawing and even a few pictures of some of my sculptures. That will all be soon to come. So, please continue to visit every so often for new updates!!
I leave most of the stories and explanation of my works to be decided upon by the viewer. In some cares, I'll guide along the lines I was thinking or through where I journeyed. If you have to time, I would love it if you shared your thoughts about any of the pieces. Simply e-mail me.

Visit Elfwood

I just recently started displaying my artwork in the amateur fantasy art gallery known as Elfwood. Click on the link above to visit the main Elfwood page.. Or click here to go to my gallery directly. I do display some work there that I do no currently display here.

This is my new section..But is it Art?..here I would like to discuss what artists are doing in the wide world.

New York artist, Cosimo Cavallaro, has begun covering a house, inside and out, with pepperjack cheese. The house is located in Powell, WY and will be torn down on November 2nd. He likes cheese because: ``It's milk. It's life.''

    Paintings

    Here's a hint..It's a very large mammal.

  • One of my first small paintings. What kind of creature can you make out? I'm not going to tell you what it is.
    Red. Oil. 5 x 7. 1999
    One blue horse stands alone.

  • One of my first attempts at abstraction in the background. This is based on a sketched and influenced by my
    favourite artist, Franz Marc.
    Horse Blue. Oil. 8 x 10. 2000 (bad scan)
    Three Foxes in the woods

  • Now I'm going even more in to the abstract. This is straight from my head but still influenced my Franz Marc.
    Foxes 3. Acrylic. 8 x 10. 2000
Curious wolfe pearing at the world.

  • This is my favourite painting, but that's probably because I love wolves. A quick painting I did from a picture.
    Quiet Glimpse. Oil. 5 x 7. 2000

    My Decorated Eggs

Painted hardboiled Easter Eggs These are the eggs that started it all. When I was in Germany last year, my Oma requested the I paint the hardboiled eggs that where to go in the children's Easter egg baskets. Everyone loved them and didn't want to egg them. So it was request that from now on I only paint hollowed out eggs. I painted a whole batch for my Aunt before I left but I didn't get a picture of them. In case it's hard to tell, from top to bottom and right to left, a swallow, alligate, yes that is Pikachu, a bunny, a hen with chicks, a butterfly and more chicks. They also have little pictures on the other side, which I didn't bother taking a picture of but now I wish I had.
Here are some of my experimentations with eggs... the rest of these are all 2001 and yes, real hollowed out eggs.
Green w/ blue and purple tissue paper Yellow w/ green and purple tissue paper Here I experimented with a sort of paper machee technique using tissue paper. I thought it would be less time consuming than painting but it turned out to be even more complicated. However, I do like how they turned out. I'll likely do more in the future.
Two little chickies in white tissue papered egg One little chickie in a purple tissue papered egg One little chickie in a blue tissue papered egg Here I experimented with something completely new. As I was blowing out the yolk of an egg, it cracked. Normally that means that this egg would go in the trash but I decided to try to put something in the hollow egg. I did the tissue papering again and stuffed little, Easter chick dolls inside. If the chicks didn't look so scary, it probably would have come out better.
Now we start the part that I'm famous for, my watercolour painted eggs.
Swallowtail butterfly resting on a blade of grass Yellow flowers in a field This egg is a wrap around painting of a swallowtail butterfly on one side and a some simple, yellow flowers on the other side. The whole setting is in a field. This is one of the few eggs that is completely painted.
A little red tulip Diddle Maus holding a green egg Here is another wrap aroung painting. There's a simple red tulip on one side and the other is a german character named 'Diddl Maus' (Diddle Mouse) holding a green easter egg. These characters are very popular in Germany and I love to draw them. So, I just had to try and paint one!
A european red squirrel with a nut A nice old tree This is more the style I normally do with only on picture on both side and no real background. This is just a little european red squirrel holding a nut. On the other side is a nice, old tree.
Goldfishies swimming around Round and round the goldfishies swim Another wrap around egg. This is just a bunch of goldfishies swimming around in a pond.
A little bunnie sitting admit flowers A clutch of easter eggs on tufts of grass This is my favourite egg. I really like how delicate this one turned out. It's just a little, brown rabbit admit some spring flowers. On the other side is a bunch of easter eggs sitting in some grass.
Some kind of a flower i got from a picture Hummingbirds Imaginary Hummingbirds More Hummingbirds Here is an almost wrap around egg. It has a pinkish flower on one side and then the rest is covered with hummingbirds in flight. No, most of thos colours don't exist on hummingbirds. However, I'm the artist so I can do what I want! :)
Chicks all around Chick chicks Chickies Chickipoos This is the only egg that doesn't have a main part to the painting. It's simply little, fluffy chicks running all over the place.
So where are all these eggs now? Well, I shipped all to my Oma for Easter. That is a story in itself!

All of these eggs are threaded with either light yellow or purple, satin ribbons so they can be hung on a pussy willow branch arrangement that is customary for Easter in Germany. However, as you can see, most of my eggs have themes that would be appropriate for any time of year.

    My Budda Mouse

  • I thought I'd throw this picture of here for the hell of it. It's on of the only pictures I have of my sculpy work.
This is my budda mouse. I call him so because he's fat, round and will be holding incense when he's done!
